Morning and After School Supervision: Just a reminder that morning supervision starts at 8:05. Students should not arrive at school without an adult before that. At dismissal time we encourage all students to head home right away. Those students who do not have an adult by 2:25 will be brought to the office.
Recess and Lunch Play Times: We have definitely entered into the Winter Season. The weather is starting to cool. We plan on going outside every recess and lunch play time. Please be sure your child(ren) are dressed for the weather. Our playground has areas where water builds up. We cone off those areas and ask students to not play in those areas. There may be sometimes when we have extreme weather conditions that require us to remain inside during our breaks. The school does have some spare coats. If your child needs a coat, please let the office know and we will try our best to help out.
February Hot Lunch: Please note that Munch-a-lunch has two dates listed for Hot Lunch in February. We know there is an error with the dates. Listed is a Hot Lunch for February 26th and Popeyes for February 27th. The Hot Lunch Day is Thursday February 26th, and it is Popeyes. If you are ordering, click Popeyes (we know it says the 27th). The order will be for Thursday February 26th.
Whisker Wednesday: This Wednesday will be our next Whisker Wednesday! We will be focusing on Kindness and Harmony in our activities this week. We encourage students to get in the Cougar Spirit by wearing our school-wear or our school colours, red and black.
City Wide Reading Challenge: Do you and your children love to read? There is still time to get involved with the City-Wide Reading Challenge, which starts Sunday, February 1st. To participate, track the days you read on the attached tracker, and submit it as a ballot to enter a prize draw. Listening to audiobooks and podcasts counts, too. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
You’re Invited to Ready, Set, Explore: Ready, Set, Explore is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your preschooler’s future neighbourhood school. At LME, our Ready, Set, Explore will be Friday, Feburary 6th from 12:45-1:45pm. During this event, families will be able to hear a story, have a snack, and participate in interactive play activities designed for children and their parents. You'll also have the chance to meet some school staff and ask questions in a welcoming, play-filled environment. Please RSVP here to ensure we are prepared for all participants!
Feeding Futures & Bowls of Hope (Lunch & Breakfast): Little Mountain receives additional funding to provide healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to all students in a welcoming and accessible way. For students who are unable to eat before coming to school, a sit-and-serve breakfast is available before the morning bell. At lunch, students can access hot soup and sides provided by Chilliwack Bowls of Hope. During snack times, students are offered items such as fruit, cheese and crackers, yogurt, and granola bars. Students are encouraged to access these food options whenever they need them, whether they do not have a packed lunch or are still hungry after eating what they brought.
LME Pantry: Little Mountain has a free mini-pantry with non-perishable food items. If your family could use support, please feel free to contact Mr. Bateman or Mrs. Locke.
Grade 5 Parents: We are looking for parent volunteers to help with fundraising and planning for the grade 5 student’s year end events. We are almost halfway through the school year and it is the time of year we look forward to planning our year end activities for our grade 5s.
